Hello and Welcome to ARoundWithRog

Thank you for visiting this website.
Its intention is

· to raise awareness of blood cancers

· to encourage visitors to register as potential bone marrow donors

· to raise money through sponsorship for and involvement in a sporting challenge.

It has been achieved through the efforts of one sufferer (Rog) and his network of friends, family, fellow patients and contacts. 
A huge thank you to those who have given time, money, tee times and all other related products and services to make this website and the funds raised from the challenge possible.

With no warning of impending poor health, at the end of 2004, Roger Marris (Rog) was diagnosed with an aggressive form of incurable NHL that has no known cause - Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (one of many illnesses grouped under the general term – cancer; Lymphoma is known as lymphatic cancer). 

To improve the chances of people in the future finding themselves in a similar position, Rog wants to try to raise a minimum of £10,000  while he feels able to do so.

· The Leukaemia Research Fund (which researches causes and future treatments for the blood cancers - Leukaemia, Hodgkins and Non- Hodgkins Lymphomas and Myeloma).

 

· The Anthony Nolan Trust (which operates the UK's most successful bone marrow register and provides lifesaving donors for patients in need of a bone marrow transplant. Since 1974 The Anthony Nolan Trust has helped to give over 4,000 children and adults a new chance of life).

Mission accomplished! Rog has now completed this challenge and has surpassed his original target by raising more than £25,000 for charity.

With only 15 minutes to spare, Rog putted out on the final (360th) hole at Wentworth to complete his round the UK challenge.  Please view the attached film clip of Rog, summarising his thoughts about the challenge.
